Letter undated from Dau to Lan and Thanh informs that the fire mission was not executed last night by K3 poss 3d Btry 4th Bn 577th Arty Regt due to a weapon poss Rocket Launcher malfunction and that the ammo was hidden on the plain poss in Hoa Long Vill Hoa Vang Dist Quang Nam Prov. Thanh is instructed to contact Kim to re-schedule a fire mission for tonight by using ammo left in Hoa Long. Following is the distribution of forces: 1 Hoa Phung Vill Unit was ordered to reconnoiter poss firing position for K3 and provide protection to this element while they occupied the firing position. 2 Hoa Long Vill Unit is responsible for leading K2 poss 2d Btry 4th Bn 577th Arty Regt to its firing position to secure the position at Nui Dun sic and to carry ten rounds of ammo from Hoa Long Vill to K2's position. 3 Areas 5 and 6 should carry ten more rounds of ammo to K2's position. 4. Closely coordinate with friendly VC/WVA Inf Unit. The writer states that the fire mission should be executed at 2330H meaning 2330H. K2 should fire 21 rd at An Don poss An Don Quarter in the suburb of Da Nang City and K3 should fire 17 rd without the launcher at the objective. Upon completion of mission K2 should move to Dien Wan Vill 3 to Dien Binh Vill and Inf Unit te Area Ong Hai. The excess ammo should be left at Hoa Hai Vill. No Further Exploitable Information.
