(c) Diary, entries dated between 29 Oct 67 and 19 Apr 68, maintained by Dinh Xuan-Doi aka Xuan Thu, LBN 13913 IS, records notes on his infiltration trip from North to South VN and some poems as well as commands in English, transcribed in Vietnamese phonetics, dealing with US POW. The diary reveals that Dinh Xuan Doi began his infiltration trip on an unknown date and arrived in Vinh Hoa Vill, Vĩnh Lộc Dist, Thịnh Hồ Prov, on 20 Nov 67 From this date to 28 Nov, he crossed Thanh Hoa and reached the boundary of Nghe An which was known as a staging area for the "outstanding sons" who went to fight in SVN. The document further reveals that Doi's group arrived in Quang Binh Prov on 15 Dec and Doi witnessed US airstrikes, approximately 200m from his column on 16 Dec; this airstrike resulted in one freight car burnt. The infiltration appeared to have been done by foot, for Doi mostly used trails through forests during the trip and marched with a cane. Doi ended his diary on 22 Dec after having passed 22 waystations before arriving in an unknown district of Quang Tri Prov. The doc also reveals that Doi's group was armed because Doi wrote that he and his comrades had to clean weapons and radios during a two-day halt at Nghe An/Quang Binh boundary on 14 Dec. A subsequent entry discloses that Doi was transferred from the Western Frontline to the Eastern Frontline on Road #9 on 11 Apr 68. The doc further contains the photo of an unknown girl and addresses of Doi's correspondents living in North Vietnam.
