A Diary with entries dated between 7 Aug 67 and 13 Jan 68 / by Phùng Văn Tranh 7, discloses his location and activities during the cited period. The first entry, dated 7 Aug 677, reveals that Tranh arrived in South 7 after three months of marching during which he and his comrades endured innumerable hardships. However, due to the enemy MAF/RVNAP 7 operations on route #9, his unit could not proceed to its assigned location and had to sleep in underground shelters. On 7 Aug 67, when his unit was located not far from the enemy, he heard news that the 321st WVA 7 Bn, under the command of Mat Khan, had arrived in BT poss Abbreviation for Binh Tri, meaning Quang Binh and Quang Tri Provinces 7. An entry dated 18 Aug [67] discloses that Tranh had been "inside" poss meaning on the other side 7 of Route #9. But on 20 Aug 677 he received news that Route #9 had been blocked again. Consequently the three Coof Subject's Bn could not continue their trip. Only his Co which was coded "21" could move through Route #9.
