Message 63, dated 9 May ((possibly 1971)), signed by Lien, CBQK ((possibly a cadre of VC Military Region 5)), addressed to subordinate units, instructs the addressees to submit reports on the enemy ((FWMAF/RVNAF)) use of the toxic chemical agent known as CS, from Jan to date ((May 71)). During Operation Nam ((possibly Lam)) Son 719, the enemy used toxic chemical weapons 46 times by means of aircraft, artillery weapons, and grenades. However, friendly forces successfully limited the enemy's use of these chemical weapons by coordinated attacks, shooting at aircraft, silencing enemy artillery weapons, staying close to enemy troops, and cutting their formations into small elements, thus rendering the enemy unable to use their chemical weapons.
