Notebook with entries by Hoang Men, CO of an U/I Co, LBN 7 20827-GM, An Binh probably 31st Regt, 2d NVA Div, MR 5, records activities, strength, and armament of his Co, during period Apr through Aug 67. This unit was composed of 118 men organized into three Plats. Key personnel included: Hoang Men, Co CO; Dinh and Do, Co XO's; Tien, Polit Off; Chung and Phuc, Asst Polit Officers; Cam, Plat Ldr of B1; Tam, Plat Ldr of B2; and Pha, Plat Ldr of B3. Weapons assigned to the Co were 34 AK Assault rifles, nine LMG, and 64 grenades. Areas of activity of this unit embraced Son Long and Sơn Tay Villages in Son Tinh Dist, Quang Ngãi Prov. Author discloses that he had been wounded in an engagement at Ba Nhung Hamlet on 20 Apr 67 and was treated at CK 110 Quang Ngai Prov Hospital, LBN 21464-GM Ba Hoành. He left the hospital on 10 Aug, arrived at NT DA Convalescent Camp on the 12th, at the Cadre Sec of CT Regt in Son Tay Vill on the 15th. One entry discloses that Hoang Men conducted an inspection of C.10 on the 25th month and year unknown. This unit had on hand three MG, one 60mm mortar, five LMG, and four BLO RLS. Another unit which Subject inspected was C9. Document further shows that report of engagement must be immediately forwarded to CT Regt through the Commo-liaison Stations located at Binh Binh, Mrs Cds house at Ba Dinh and Loc Bai in Soh Trung Village. The Unit was assigned the mission of transporting weapons to CT on 30 month and year unspecified, possibly Aug 67. Document notes that the number of weapons CT had received included 100 AK, mine LMG, three B40, 90 daggers, and one 12.7mm HMG. Upon completion, subjects unit would return to base by the following route: Sơn Trung - Phú Thọ.
