Personal history statement, dated 9 Apr 71, prepared by Bui Van Hang, Battalion Executive Officer (possibly of a battalion subordinate to the 4th Main Force Regiment), reveals that Hang was born in 1940 in Phu Xuân Hol, (Village), Nha Be (District), (VC) Gia Dinh (Province); enlisted on 16 Jun 62; was admitted to the Party as an official member on 3 Feb 67; and assumed the position of Battalion Executive Officer on 8 Apr 70. He participated in 50 battles and was awarded one Third-Class Liberation Military Exploit Medal, 10 certificates of commendation, five letters of appreciation, and two Brave Warrior titles.
