Communique #73/TB, dated 19 Sep 68, originated by the Staff Sec, Ba Ria - Long Khanh Prov Unit, ((poss T7 Region, COSVN)), recapitulates friendly ((VC/NVA)) military actions in Tay Ninh and Binh Long Prov from 17 to 27 Aug 68. Document relates that during the reported period, friendly forces carried out 30 battles in Tay Ninh Prov and 20 others in Binh Long Prov. The 30 battles in Tay Ninh Prov included six battles at Regt level, 22 battles at Bn level, and two battles at Co level which resulted in 6,092 enemy ((FWMAF/ RVNAF)) soldiers killed, three US servicemen captured, and 126 assorted weapons seized. The 20 battles in Binh Long Prov resulted in 1,829 enemy soldiers killed and nine assorted weapons seized. In Tay Ninh Prov, 30,000 inhabitants were liberated and ((GVN)) control of 60,000 inhabitants was disrupted by friendly forces.
