Item #1: Message, dated 12 Feb 68, from a U/I member of D66, requests Sub-Regions 2 and 47 to acknowledge receipt of a message dated 9 Feb 687 of D86 which contained many cover designators unspecified. Item #2: Message, dated 14 Feb 68, from Bich of D86, informs Sub-Region 2 that on 9 Feb 87, the enemy F/RVNAF7 discovered the presence of an unspecified friendly C/NVA DBn7 in Giong Luc Area. Item #3: Message, dated 15 Feb 68, from Hai Thang and Sau Nam of D86, informs subordinate units and Sub-Regions, that in the period 30 Jan to 15 Feb 68; friendly forces inflicted heavy losses on the enemy throughout South VN. Friendly forces destroyed most of the enemy's communication facilities, POL, ammunition, vehicles, aircraft and sealed off many communication axes. Addressees were reminded not to overestimate the enemy capabilities and to overcome difficulties as well as to accomplish their mission such as intensifying the attack on the enemy and his installations, organizing the political forces to seize power and securing supplies. Item #4: Message, dated 12 Feb 68, from Cuc of D86, informs Sub-Regions and CT5, possibly 5th VC Div units which were involved in the enemy Operation Quyêt Thang 68/1 conducted on 7 and 8 Feb 68 in the areas of Kinh Doi, Lo Gom, Ben Nghe, and Kinh Ngang Canals: the 30th, 33d, and 1st RVNAF Ranger units, 30th Junk Fleet, and two unspecified RVNAF Abn Bn. This enemy operation was conducted to prevent friendly NC7 forces from entering Saigon City from the south. Item #5: Message, dated 13 Feb 68, from Ty Chi of D86 to Sub-Region 2 and R, reports that Sub-Region 2, Vinh Loc Area (Area 1) was a favorable base area from which friendly C7 forces could carry out harassing attacks on an unspecified airfield and coordinate, with friendly C7 forces in My Hanh Village, Duc Hoa District. Item #6: Message, dated 15 Feb 68, signed by Tu Chi of D86, addressed to Sub-Region 2 and R, reveals the use of friendly forces in the coming phase of the attack möglich Second Offensive Phase7. 269th Bn and D6 6th Bn would operate in Precincts 3, 5, and 6 of Saigon Capital7, with the mission of destroying enemy forces, occupy Saigon, Port, and bridges in the suburban area such as Phu Lam and Câu Tre 2 bridges. 16 was to operate in the Area of Vinh Loc, from Ea Queo to Xuân Thoi Thuong Village7, especially to attack enemy mechanized forces on Highway #1. The sapper units (special) were to support D6 and to attack Tan Son Nhut Airfield. The DK element was continuously to shell this airfield. D267 possibly 267th Bn, was to attack the enemy forces in Tan Buu and Phu Lam Areas to secure the transportation of ordnance and food supplies to the front line. Friendly C7 forces were to seal off Highway #4, Roads #5 and #15, waterways such as Nuoc Man Canal, and store additional supplies in preparation for a new and stronger phase of attack. Item #7: Message, dated 16 Feb 68, from Cuc of D86, informs Sub-Region 2/07 that on 9 Feb /687, the enemy discovered the presence of a friendly, possibly VCZ Bn, and its Mortar unit in the areas of Bau Cong and So Do Plain, and of another friendly unit south of the Hum River which was prepared to attack Hau Nghĩa, Đức Hòa, and 34th ARUNAI7 Ranger units. Item #8: Message, dated 16 Feb 68, from Cuc of D86, informs the Sub-Regions that on 9 and 10 Feb 68 the enemy discovered the locations of the following friendly unspecific, VC7 units: one unit in Bau Cu Area; two units in the Hoc Thom Area; one unit southeast of the Khanh Hoa road junction; one unit north of the Duc Hoa Thuong Village7; one unit of D506 (possibly Main Force unit), Long An Prov. The enemy also knew that six oxen carts were transporting ammunition, from Hoa Khanh road junction to Saigon City. Item #9: Message, dated 16 Feb 68, from Sau Nam and Tuoi (possibly of D86), directs Sub-Region 2 to use D16 to attack east of Tan Son Nhut airfield instead of using three unspecified units as previously planned, and to send D267 (possibly 267th Bn) to the inner perimeter of Saigon City.
